Humans love wood

As a species we really love the stuff; that is part of the problem.

Whether it is harvested for building materials or for use as fuel, deforestation and unsustainable forestry have left us with vast tracts of land with no trees left.

Agricultural land use changes are stripping the earth of its natural spaces, leaving enormous plantations and arable pasture in place of trees.

As carbon lock-ups go, trees and soil are the most important in the world, so let’s protect them.

Love woods, not just wood.

“Society grows great when men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”

Anonymous Greek Proverb

Some 46-58 thousand square miles of forest are lost each year—equivalent to 48 football fields every minute. - WWF
